Fluid
Transient Analysis
AESL can model
both compressible and incompressible transient flow scenarios. Expertise extends to rapid transients in
compressible fluids. Acoustic effects
can be modelled, which may have a significant effect in certain situations.
Projects
completed include: -
- Analysis of power station
supply
- Security of gas supply
under fault conditions
- Gas regulator performance

Pipeline
Stress Analysis
AESL have the capability to complete stress analysis of pipelines. The primary tool for completing this is
the CAESAR II software. This allows
code checking to: -
- IGE/TD/12
- ASME B31.1
- ASME B31.3
- ASME B31.8
and many others

Strain Gauging and
Instrumentation
The Company has significant experience in instrumentation for both short and
long term monitoring. We offer the
following services to clients: -
- Specification of strain
gauging and monitoring requirements
- Installation of strain gauges
and monitoring instrumentation
- Strain monitoring, data
logging and analysis
- Residual stress measurement
- Interpretation and reporting
of measured data
- Manufacture of bespoke load

Assessment of Flaws
in Welded Structures
We can undertake an “Engineering Critical Assessment” (ECA) necessary to
determine whether a welded structure
(e.g. a pressure vessel) may continue in service. The ECA is completed according to the
guidelines in BS 7910. In order to
complete the analysis, AESL use software developed by TWI. Where the load is cyclic, the rate of
crack growth may also be predicted.
