AES recruits new apprentices

Advanced Engineering Solutions is delighted to have recently recruited two new apprentices, and next generation of pipeline asset health and performance specialists.

Jake Forrester, 16, and James Backley, 17, will be working towards a Level 3 Maintenance, Operations and Engineering Technician qualification whilst attending Newcastle College.

The three-year course will see the new recruits gain the knowledge and experience in becoming multi-skilled, competent technicians across the gas and water sectors, broadening their skills in gas control modules, control cabinet refurbishment, PSSR inspections and condition assessment.

The apprentices will be spending four days a week based at the Cramlington workshop carrying out practical training and one day a week at college for classroom-based learning.

Simon Holden, general manager, commented: “We’re excited to be developing our own talent within the business, demonstrating our commitment to the local area and the future of the water and gas utility networks.”
