Raw Water Systems
AVOIDING LEAKAGE AND PIPELINE FAILURE
Raw water pipelines are an important water network asset and key to maintaining a reliable supply to customers through the delivery of untreated water from reservoirs to water treatment works.
THE RISKS OF RAW WATER PIPE FAILURE
When these often very old pipelines deteriorate, it can lead to water loss through leakage and, depending on pipeline loading, may lead to structural failure, the need for emergency repairs and additional financial costs.
Failure of pipework located within impounding reservoir dam structures can have serious safety implications for both personnel and the dam structure. Integrity assessments for these assets should form part of any dam safety inspection program.
How we can help?
Our engineering teams have the experience and knowledge to undertake integrity assessment and failure investigations on a range of raw water pipeline materials.
All which can have different deterioration mechanisms, failure modes and require different inspection or mechanical testing techniques to understand performance. Failure modes are defined by the pipe material properties, deterioration mechanism and the applied loading regimes.
